Tyler wrestled for Centennial High School where he was a 3x state placer. Tyler went on to wrestle Division I for the University of Wisconsin before eventually becoming a 3x All-American and national finalist for Augsburg University. He was also captain of the 2023 National Championship team. In addition to coaching wrestling, Tyler also is the head coach of Pursuit Minnesota's Strength Club.
